Privacy & Trust
Puzzles & Profits helps organizations handle data responsibly. We hold ourselves to the same standard we teach.
Privacy Policy
Effective January 2026
This policy describes how Puzzles & Profits collects, uses, and protects information you share with us through this website or in the course of an engagement.
When you fill out a contact form, request a discovery call, or download a resource, we collect the information you provide, such as your name, email address, job title, and organization name. We use that information to respond to your inquiry and, with your consent, to send you occasional updates relevant to AI adoption in the nonprofit sector.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We use HubSpot to manage communications and may use it to track email engagement so we can improve the relevance of what we send you. You may unsubscribe from our communications at any time using the link in any email we send.
This website does not use advertising trackers or cross-site tracking cookies. If you have questions about what data we hold about you, or want to request its deletion, contact us at hello@puzzlesandprofits.com.
How We Handle Your Data
During an engagement, you may share sensitive organizational information with us, including staff structures, program data, donor records, and technology configurations. We treat all of that as confidential. We do not use client information for any purpose other than delivering the work you hired us to do.
We do not input client data into AI tools without explicit permission. When we use AI tools to support our own work, we do so using general knowledge and publicly available information, not information specific to your organization.
Engagement deliverables, such as your governance policy and implementation roadmap, belong to you. We may reference the type of work we have done in general terms (for example, "a mid-size JCC in the Bay Area"), but we will not identify your organization by name without your written permission.
If you are ever uncertain about how a specific piece of information will be handled during an engagement, ask. We will give you a direct answer.
Our AI Principles
We believe AI is a powerful tool that requires intentional oversight. The principles we recommend to our clients also guide how we operate.
- Human accountability. Every AI-assisted output we produce is reviewed and owned by a human. We do not publish or deliver AI-generated content without judgment applied to it.
- Appropriate data boundaries. We do not submit personally identifiable information, donor records, member data, or financial data into general-purpose AI tools. We work with clients to establish the same boundaries for their teams.
- Transparency about limitations. AI tools can produce confident-sounding errors. We verify claims, cite sources where they matter, and are honest about what AI can and cannot do well.
- Mission alignment. We evaluate AI tools not just by their capabilities but by whether using them is consistent with the values of mission-driven organizations. Efficiency is not the only consideration.
- Continuous review. The AI landscape changes quickly. We revisit our own practices regularly and update our recommendations to clients as the risks and opportunities evolve.
If you have questions about our practices or want to discuss how these principles apply to your organization, reach out at hello@puzzlesandprofits.com.
